Gardeners Tips

Flower Garden
·         Check stakes are secure on climbers and trees
·         Prune existing rose bushes and plant out new rose bushes
·         Move shrubs that are growing in the wrong place
·         If weather turns very cold, move containers of shrubs or winter bedding into a sheltered spot
Kitchen Garden
·         Start pruning apple and pear trees
·         Prune side shoots on gooseberries back to about 5cm
·         Plant out new fruit bushes
·         Pot up herbs and bring in to over winter
Greenhouse
·         Ensure insulation is securely fitted
·         Check fuel levels in gas and paraffin heaters
·         Ventilate greenhouses on dry days
·         Treat timber greenhouses with stain or preservative on dry days
General Advice
·         Plant bare root hedging plants now
·         Keep bird feeders clean and well stocked
·         Cut back honeysuckles
·         Winter dig the vegetable garden
·         Protect hosepipes and outside taps from frost

The Old Railway Line Garden Centre is a family run business established in 1990 by the current owners, Mark and Christina Cleary. Set in the heart of the picturesque Wye Valley,nestling under the Black Mountains this small family run garden centre is open 7 days a week and ready to welcome you. What's Happening here at the Garden Centre....

Platform 1

New Pet Care department Now Open

Our brand new pet and wild bird care area is now open. We have re-located our pet area to this new building in a hope to be able to stock a wider range of pet care products and provide a nicer, more open plan shopping experience. The new building has been named 'Platform 1' on a railway theme so please be sure to call in and have a look around this new buidling.
