Gardeners Tips Flower Garden
· Check stakes are secure on climbers and trees
· Prune existing rose bushes and plant out new rose bushes
· Move shrubs that are growing in the wrong place
· If weather turns very cold, move containers of shrubs or winter bedding into a sheltered spot
Kitchen Garden
· Start pruning apple and pear trees
· Prune side shoots on gooseberries back to about 5cm
· Plant out new fruit bushes
· Pot up herbs and bring in to over winter
Greenhouse
· Ensure insulation is securely fitted
· Check fuel levels in gas and paraffin heaters
· Ventilate greenhouses on dry days
· Treat timber greenhouses with stain or preservative on dry days
General Advice
· Plant bare root hedging plants now
· Keep bird feeders clean and well stocked
· Cut back honeysuckles
· Winter dig the vegetable garden
· Protect hosepipes and outside taps from frost

New Pet Care department Now Open Our brand new pet and wild bird care area is now open. We have re-located our pet area to this new building in a hope to be able to stock a wider range of pet care products and provide a nicer, more open plan shopping experience. The new building has been named 'Platform 1' on a railway theme so please be sure to call in and have a look around this new buidling. |
